David Whiffen, Head Chef of The Plantation
David Whiffen, the Head Chef at The Plantation has enjoyed a long career in cooking in some of the best kitchens both in the UK and internationally and has now found his way home to Dorset!
Having always wanted to be a chef, David started his education locally at Bournemouth and Poole College studying catering and winning various awards including Student of the Year. From there, David worked in a number of famous restaurants including The Connaught, Hanbury Manor and Inverlochy Castle before moving to work in Bermuda and Barbados as an executive chef before returning to England.
David was subsequently appointed as Executive Head Chef for the Royal Bank of Scotland covering over seventy sites across the UK and Ireland and managing corporate catering for a huge range of exciting events including the RBS 6 Nations Rugby, Glorious Goodwood, Formula One, The Royal Highland Show and The Princes’ Trust while he was there.
Alongside his day job, David has spent years taking part in cooking competitions and has been very successful including a Silver medal at the World Culinary Olympics in Germany in 2009 and a Gold Medal in live theatre at the 2008 Olympia awards.
Since his days at RBS, David has worked in a number of hotels as head chef in the area including the Royal Bath Hotel, The Norfolk Hotel and most recently as head chef at the legendary RMYC at Sandbanks before joining us here at the Mill at Gordleton to offer our customers some seriously wonderful food, cooked with real expertise and passion.
